Summer Eastern Basketball Title for Rising Frosh*
Melrose's basketball youth movement is on the rise. Ten girls played in the Eastern Basketball League summer program, gaining valuable experience against area Varsity Basketball AAU teams. With summer vacations, not all players were available for all games, including the playoffs...but all made significant contributions.
In the finale of the South Division, Melrose took home the championship with a 31-24 (14 minute halves) victory thanks to stout defense and aggressive rebounding at both ends.
In the North Division finals, the winner, to whom Melrose lost a one point game, crushed their opponents by thirty, so the girls were highly competitive against North Shore AAU squads.
