Big week ahead
In the next seven days, Melrose travels to Woburn, hosts Reading at Stoneham (Friday), and has a rematch with Merrimack Valley entry Haverhill next Sunday. Melrose can clinch a tie for the Middlesex League title with a win or a Reading loss, and wins the title outright with any combination of 2 wins or Reading losses.
The polls are out, with Melrose at 2 in the www.t25v.com poll, while the Boston Globe has them at 3, and The Boston Herald ranks them 4th. Consensus number one is Andover, with Lowell close behind.
Sheylani Peddy was named a Player of the Week in all three entries, based on her 27 points per game and achieving 1000 points.
