Mathematical Curiosity, Melrose 66, Belmont 44

Melrose (3-0) traveled to Belmont for their first road contest of the season and overcame early foul trouble to upend the Lady Marauders 66-44.

Melrose led 33-22 at the half, despite some early sluggishness and foul trouble for Meg Kirwan. The Lady Raiders broke the game open as Sheylani Peddy fired in seven of her nine first half points in the last minute to give Melrose the edge.

Belmont never closed within eleven during the second half, despite having the height advantage and playing a tough, physical game at home.

Lynley DeAmato led Melrose with 16 points and Shey Peddy added 15 for Melrose. The Lady Raiders were 16 of 19 from the free throw line.

Once again, everyone had an opportunity to play, and six players scored at least six points. It was a mathematical curiosity that Melrose outscored Belmont 33-22 in each half.
