Taylor Pearson has played in a State Championship final in volleyball and hopes to get the chance to do the same in basketball. Taylor is also one of the top students in her class. Her parents have plenty of reasons to smile.

In addition to its current four freshmen, Siena Mamayek, Hannah Brickley, Laura Irwin, and Colleen Hanscom, Melrose added two more freshmen to its stretch run roster, Maave Downey and Nicole Meuse. Melrose basketball is in good hands for the near future.
Melrose travels to St. Mary's of Lynn for the Spartan Tourney tomorrow at 5 P.M., after collecting their 8th consecutive Middlesex League trophy tomorrow at the Middlesex League All-Star game at Reading.
In their first year together, the sixth grade travel team has compiled a North Shore League record of 18 and 2. Melrose has a strong YMCA program as well, and the annual tilt between the Travel Team and the 'Y' team occurs in less than two weeks. The parallel programs continue to produce quality basketball for Melrose. The vacation week 'skills program' staffed by Lady Raider volunteers also sold out.
