From Ventura with Love
Danny Ventura of the Herald shows Melrose some love this week with inclusion in his top 5 from Division II.
Melrose moves up based on the strength of their recent play, and the superior defensive effort against a very good Belmont team, holding the Lady Marauders to a very stingy 36 points.
Melrose exerted a total defensive effort, denying the entry pass with pressure from the top, fronting the twin posts down low, and sometimes rotating to double the bigs (Sullivan and Galvin) in the low blocks. Effort and technique, not Xs and Os gave Melrose the win.
We know the team is capable of the effort, and we'll look for them to sustain it going forward.
