Max Preps Rankings: Moving on Up
Maxpreps has a rating system involving both winning percentage and strength of schedule. As the season progresses, reflecting broader sample sizes, the rankings make more 'sense'. These ratings don't have any subjectivity (e.g. polling) so, it is what it is.
Early in the year, ratings can swing wildly. Andover comes out on top after handily defeating Central Catholic. Melrose moves up to 12th, based on their victory over Maine's second ranked York. Maxpreps relies on input from others for schedule, scores, rosters and other information, so many records are incomplete.
As we get closer to Tuesday's pivotal matchup with Reading, we'll have more information on both teams.
