Formula Won

The high school basketball experience creates a lot of excitement for the community, fans, players, and parents. But the emphasis belongs to the players, coaches, and families. They make the sacrifices, and everyone else gets a disproportionate share of the success.

The saying goes, "victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan." But year in and year out, Melrose has supported the girls not only because of the victories but because of the effort.

We like to say that you can only control two things on the court, your effort and your concentration, and everyone in Melrose knows that the team will put forth a winning effort, and that the community will show its pride in the girls.

Morgan Wootten, legendary coach at DeMatha High School says that he can only ask the team for four elements:


Congratulations again to the team and the families. They've earned the right to be remembered as one of Melrose's best basketball teams ever.
