Spring League

The basketball off-season remains vanishingly short. Many of the players compete in spring sports or AAU basketball, as well as having rigorous academic schedules, and part-time jobs.

But seven girls, one junior, two sophomores, three freshmen, and an eighth grader competed for the Lady Raiders spring team, putting forth a terrific effort against a taller and more experienced Masco team. Behind suffocating first half man-to-man defense and excellent ball movement, Melrose prevailed, despite severe foul trouble, with one player fouling out and another having to leave for AAU at half-time. Lia Limone played most of the second half with four fouls and her discipline allowed her to finish the game.
