Exceptional Effort

Off-season basketball simply gives players a chance to improve the core triad of skill development, conditioning, and team spirit.

Melrose has numerous teams participating in OTA (offseason training activities) on a voluntary basis. For example, last night in Medford, the girls, without any players who had extensive varsity playing time, and including three current freshmen, played extremely hard and deserve recognition for their effort (and the inevitable results). Clearly, many of these girls are staking out claims on future success. A player who becomes a "shutdown defender" become indispensable.

Note the core building blocks in the center.
