Lady Raider Update

The Lady Raider basketball camp continues this week. As always, a large contingent of local youngsters participate in the education, drills, and scrimmages supervised by Melrose Coach Rob Ferrante and Stoneham assistant Bill Killilea.

Meanwhile returning and potential varsity basketball candidates have had a busy summer. They completed tournaments at the University of Maine, Franklin Pierce, Boston College, and UMASS-Lowell and competed in the Woburn summer league.

Tonight, the young women faced off against a split squad from Woburn and came away with a narrow win. With 12 games in the past 12 days, the team will welcome a break before their final contest next Tuesday. Many of the girls are also preparing for the fall sports season. Tonight the coaches awarded Brooke Bell a copy of "Playing for Keeps" by David Halberstam for her overall defense.
