Slice Cut Initiates 1-4 Offense Versus Zone

We return to our basic themes of spacing, cutting and passing, screening, and ball movement. Here's an example of the type of content available at Melrosegirlsbasketball.com/blog. I use multiple sources to develop various themes. Hoop Tactics is just one.

There is initial high post entry with a so-called slice cut looking for initial action for the 5. If that doesn't happen, many other options, starting with post entry. If post entry happens, then the 4 and 5 can work together or the ball can be reversed outside.

If post entry isn't available (the 4 must have passing skills), then ball reversal can occur, with the 4 cutting for a pass or continuing through to screen for the 5 who can cut to either the low or high post depending on the defense and the 5's skill set.
